About the Course
Higher National Diplomas are two year full-time and or part-time qualifications designed to allow students to progress academically in the field of study of their choice. They act as a springboard to further qualifications either on undergraduate degree programmes and or professional qualifications.
Students who complete an HND (with the requisite subject profile) may transfer onto the final year of an Honours degree or onto professional qualifications.
Course Content
Core Modules: Marketing, Managing Financial Resources and Decisions, Organisations and Behaviour, Business Environment, Common Law 1, Business Decision Making, Business Strategy, Research Project.
Pathway Subjects: Irish/International Legal System, Business Law, Common Law II, European Law.
Professional Accreditation and Exemptions
The HND in Business and Law is a pathway programme to allow the student to progress in the field of Law. Students (if they have the correct profile) will be able to transfer onto a Law degree (normally year two) and progress onto the examinations of the Law Society of Ireland (Solicitors) and or the examinations of the Kings Inn (Barristers)
Career Prospects
The Legal profession both in Ireland and in the rest of the world has expanded to the point where the average firm can not afford to have anything but excellent legal advice. This HND is designed to allow the student to progress onto either a degree in Law and/or onto professional qualifications. Students can expect that they will be involved in litigation, conveyencing and all other aspects of law.
